1. Is the bot switched on?
New bots, duplicated bots and bots created from templates start switched off. Open your bot list and make sure the bot is published (enabled). A bot can also be paused if your account is suspended. See suspended accounts.
2. Caching and script optimizers
Speed plugins often delay, defer or combine JavaScript, which can stop the chat from loading. This is the top cause on WordPress.
- WP Rocket: File Optimization → add
chat_plugin.jsto the exclusions for Delay JavaScript execution and Combine JavaScript. - LiteSpeed Cache: Page Optimization → JS Settings → add
app.botstudio.usto JS Excludes and JS Delayed Excludes. - Autoptimize, Perfmatters, NitroPack, SiteGround Optimizer: exclude
app.botstudio.usfrom JavaScript optimization. - Cloudflare: if Rocket Loader is on, try turning it off or adding
data-cfasync="false"to the script tag.
Then clear every cache (plugin, host and CDN) and reload in a private window.
3. Domain whitelist
Under Settings → General, the Domain whitelist limits which sites can load your bot. If it's filled in and your domain isn't listed exactly, the bot won't load there.
- Add both versions if you use them:
example.com, www.example.com. - Add staging or preview domains while you test.
- Leave it empty to allow any domain.
4. Operating hours
If Operating hours are on and set to hide, the bot disappears outside your hours. Check the timezone too. Switch the behavior to show an away message or keep collecting leads after hours if you'd rather never hide it.
5. Wrong or duplicated snippet
- Check the
data-bot-idmatches the bot you're editing. - Paste the snippet once. Two copies can conflict or double the bubble.
- Inline bots need the
<div id="chat_form"></div>container on the page. - GoHighLevel pages need the GoHighLevel snippet.
- Website builders don't run custom code in their editors. Check the published page.
6. Other things to check
- Ad blockers and privacy extensions can hide chat widgets. Test in a private window with extensions off.
- Consent or cookie banners that block scripts until accepted will hold the bot back too.
- Abuse protection may block a visitor who hit the chat or message limits during heavy testing. Limits live under Settings → Protection.
- Plan limits: if your account reached its monthly limits, bots may stop responding until the next cycle or an upgrade. See usage limits.
