Flow Builder guide: blocks, branches and saving leads

The Flow Builder is where you shape the conversation. Drag blocks in, connect them, and the bot follows the path one block at a time.

Open the builder

Open your bot and click Flow Builder. Drag blocks from the left panel onto the canvas, connect them top to bottom, and click Save. Changes go live as soon as you save if the bot is switched on.

The blocks

BlockWhat it does
MessageThe bot says something. Supports simple formatting, links and {{field}} placeholders.
QuestionThe visitor types an answer. Optional numbers-only and Smart answer validation.
EmailAsks for an email and validates it.
Multi ChoiceShows buttons. Use Options to branch, or answers to record a choice and continue.
OptionOne button under a Multi Choice. Starts its own path.
AI AssistantHands the chat to AI for open questions, then returns to the flow.
Image / VideoShows media.
RedirectSends the visitor to a URL, or shows a button that opens it in a new tab.
LoopJumps back to an earlier block, like a main menu.
Save DataSaves the lead and sends it to your notifications and integrations.

Branching with buttons

A Multi Choice block can work two ways:

  • With Option blocks under it: each button starts its own path. Only the clicked option's blocks run. Use this for menus like "Book / Ask a question / Call us".
  • With answers (no options): the buttons just record the choice, then the flow continues. Use this for survey questions like budget or timeline. You can allow several answers to be picked.

Field names and {{placeholders}}

Every block has a field name. It's the column name your answer is saved under, and how you reuse it later: Thanks, {{name}}!

  • Keep field names unique and readable: name, email, budget, zip_code.
  • Any field with email in its name is validated as an email address.
  • Variables passed from your site (like {{business_name}}) work in messages the same way.

Smart answer validation

Turn on Smart answer validation on a Question block and the bot checks the answer actually answers the question, then saves a clean value. "my name is Sam" saves as "Sam". You can set the message shown when an answer is rejected.

Handing off to AI and back

Add an AI Assistant block where visitors might ask open questions. Set exit keywords like menu or book: when the visitor types one, the AI steps aside and the blocks after it run. You can also cap how many AI replies happen before the flow continues.

Tell visitors the exit word in the message before the AI block: Ask away! Type "book" anytime to schedule.

Loops and menus

A Loop block sends the visitor back to an earlier block by its field name. Put one at the end of a branch to return to your main menu instead of ending the chat.

Saving leads

Every path that collects contact details must end with a Save Data block. Without it, the lead won't reach your email or integrations.

You can have several Save Data blocks, one per path.

When visitors type instead of clicking

Under Settings → General, choose what happens when someone types while buttons are showing: re-show the options, or let the AI answer and then re-show them.
